Regular Season Round 27: Lietuvos rytas - Juventus 78-75

Seventh-ranked Juventus (11-19) made lots of trouble for second ranked Lietuvos rytas (25-5) in Vilnius on Tuesday. Lietuvos rytas managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Juventus. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 40-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Lietuvos rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. International power forward Martynas Echodas (206-97) chipped in 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Lietuvos rytas' coach Rimas Kurtinaitis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Dovis Bickauskis (191-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 9 points, 7 rebounds and 16 assists and center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Lietuvos rytas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 25-5 record behind leader Zalgiris. Juventus at the other side keeps the seventh position with 19 games lost. Lietuvos rytas are looking forward to face league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Juventus will play at home against P.Zvaigzdes (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
