Regular Season Round 27: Lietkabelis - Dzukija 95-64

There was no surprise in Panevezys where 8th ranked Dzukija (9-21) was crushed by fourth ranked Lietkabelis (19-11) 95-64. The game without a history. Lietkabelis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lietkabelis outrebounded Dzukija 34-20 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Lietkabelis players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) who led the winners and scored 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Latvian swingman Zanis Peiners (207-90) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 11 points and Cypriot-Greek forward Nikolaos Stylianou (198-88, college: W.Texas A&M) added 12 points respectively for Dzukija in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lietkabelis maintains fourth place with 19-11 record. Dzukija lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 21 games lost. Lietkabelis' next round opponent will be Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai which should be theoretically another easy game. Dzukija will play on the road against Vytautas in Prienai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
