Regular Season Round 17: Funvic/Ituano - Sampaio 74-73

The most exciting game of round 17 in the LBF took place in Itu. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Sampaio (10-4) to sixth ranked Funvic/Ituano (7-8) 74-73 on Thursday evening. Funvic/Ituano looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international guard Palmira Marcal (176-84) saved the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). The former international point guard Joice Rodrigues (168-86) contributed with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Four Funvic/Ituano players scored in double figures. The former international forward Tatiane Pacheco (181-91) answered with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Chilean center Ziomara Morrison (194-89, agency: ProDep Management) added 11 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Sampaio. Newly promoted Funvic/Ituano maintains sixth place with 7-8 record. Sampaio at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Funvic/Ituano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sampaio will play on the road against SBC/Brazolin/UNIP in Sao Bernardo and is hoping to win this game.
