Regular Season Round 28: Rouen - Vichy Clermont 101-92

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked SPO Rouen and 10th ranked JA Vichy had identical 13-14 record. This time SPO Rouen used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Vichy 101-92. It looked good early as JA Vichy took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then SPO Rouen had a 31-15 second period charge getting the lead and JA Vichy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 92-101. SPO Rouen made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 JA Vichy turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. SPO Rouen brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by American Amin Stevens (203-90, college: Florida A&M) who scored that evening 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import Desmond Williams (199-91, college: S.Connecticut) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) did not help to save the game for JA Vichy. Naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) added 20 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Five SPO Rouen and four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SPO Rouen (14-14) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Denain. JA Vichy at the other side keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. SPO Rouen's next round opponent will be Denain Voltaire (#8) on the road. JA Vichy will play against Saint Chamond and hope to win that game.
