We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Mondragon (9-19) was edged on the road by thirteenth ranked Univ.Burgos (9-10) 76-73 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 18-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Univ.Burgos outrebounded Mondragon 43-31 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Julio De Assis (200-92) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diop (212-87) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Univ.Burgos players scored in double figures. Guard Iker Barbero (192-92) replied with 11 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Aitor Carrera (180-89) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Mondragon. Mondragon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Univ.Burgos moved-up to eleventh place in Group A-A. Loser Mondragon dropped to the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Univ.Burgos will have a break next round. Mondragon will play at home against Ardoi (#10) and hope to win that game.
