Regular Season Round 27: Karditsas - Psychiko 79-67

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Psychiko (12-15) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Karditsas (11-16) 79-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Karditsas. Psychiko was better in third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Serbian center Stefan Djordjevic (206-89) who scored 20 points. Swingman Georgios Mavrogiannis (193-92) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Four Karditsas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Alpha Dialo (210-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Psychiko's coach Nikos Remendelas let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Karditsas have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Karditsas maintains eleventh place with 11-16 record, which they share with Papagou. Psychiko lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Karditsas will face higher ranked Ethnikos (#8) in Pireus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
