Regular Season Round 53: Gunma - Shinshu BW 90-76

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Shinshu BW (23-28) was defeated on the road by third ranked Gunma (28-23) 90-76 on Saturday. Gunma dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Shinshu BW's 30 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Gunma looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and his fellow American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Kazuya Mitsui (190-94) scored 22 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma maintains third place with 28-23 record having five points less than leader Akita NH. Shinshu BW lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 28 games lost. Gunma will face again Shinshu BW (#5) in Nagano in the next round.
