Regular Season Round 27: Papagou - Amyntas Dafnis 72-70

A very interesting game took place in Athens. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Amyntas Dafnis (14-13) to twelfth ranked Papagou (11-16) 72-70 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Amyntas Dafnis won fourth quarter 20-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Kostas Dedes (194-85) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Papagou players scored in double figures. Forward Panag Koukounias (199-88) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Leonidas Zoupas (182-82) added 6 points and 8 assists respectively for Amyntas Dafnis in the defeat. Amyntas Dafnis' coach Alexis Zavos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Papagou moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Karditsas. Amyntas Dafnis lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. Papagou's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Psychiko.
