Regular Season Round 30: Pardinyes-L. - Igualada 76-89

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-best Pardinyes-L. (18-6) lost to third ranked Igualada (17-7) in Lleida 76-89 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Igualada. Pardinyes-L. was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pardinyes-L. 43-29 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pardinyes-L. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Eduard Burges (190-90) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Roger Riu (195-89) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Igualada players scored in double figures. Forward Javier Mendiburu (197-80) replied with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals and forward Carles Gasque (198-93) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Pardinyes-L.Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Igualada maintains third position in Group C-B with 17-7 record having just three points less than leader Vic, which they share with Valls Nutrion. Loser Pardinyes-L. keeps the second place with six games lost. Igualada will face bottom-ranked JAC Sants (#10) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pardinyes-L. will play on the road against Cerdanyola (#14) in Cerdanyola del Valle and hope to win that game.
