Regular Season Round 33: Chiba Jets - Nishinomiya S. 85-69

Very expected game when 5th ranked Nishinomiya S. (9-44) was defeated on the road by first ranked Chiba Jets (40-13) 85-69 on Sunday. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Herbert Hill (208-84, college: Providence) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Yu Okada (184-83) scored 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets maintains first place with 40-13 record. Nishinomiya S. lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 44 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Nishinomiya S. will play at home against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
