Regular Season Round 7: Culiacan - Mazatlan 83-90

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (3-3) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (2-5) 90-83 on Tuesday. Strangely Caballeros de Culiacan outrebounded Lobos UAD Mazatlan 48-29 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Lobos UAD Mazatlan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. American forward Devin White (203-88, college: SUNO) fired 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Isaiah Wilkerson (191-90, college: NJIT) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Iranian forward Mike Rostampour (203-91, college: Omaha) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Nigerian-American point guard Ben Uzoh (191-88, college: Tulsa) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Los Mochis. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caballeros de Culiacan will play again against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
