There was no surprise when 15th ranked Liceo Frances (7-21) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Real Madrid II (22-6) 83-75 on Tuesday. Real Madrid II outrebounded Liceo Frances 40-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Liceo Frances was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Uruguayan-Greek forward Maximiliano Sole (198-88, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. Senegalese center Amar Sylla (206-1) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Real Madrid II players scored in double figures. At the losing side Alejandro Ortiz responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Ignacio Iriarte (175-94) scored 22 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Real Madrid II moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Azuqueca and Villarrobledo. Liceo Frances lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. Real Madrid II will face bottom-ranked Gran Canaria II (#10) in Las Palmas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Liceo Frances will play on the road against Tenerife Naut. (#8) in Santa Cruz de Ten. and hope to win that game.
