Date: April 27, 2018
Rather predictable result when fourteenth ranked Chalons-Reims (13-18) rolled over on the road bottom-ranked Hyeres-Toulon (7-24) 85-62 on Friday. The game without a history. Chalons-Reims led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Hyeres-Toulon's 32. Chalons-Reims looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. His fellow American import LaMonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island, agency: HMS) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Chalons-Reims' coach Cedric Heitz felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Vafessa Fofana (198-92) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Ferdinand Prenom (201-91) added 14 points respectively for Hyeres-Toulon in the defeat. Chalons-Reims maintains fourteenth place with 13-18 record. Hyeres-Toulon lost their eighteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Chalons-Reims will meet at home higher ranked JDA Dijon (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hyeres-Toulon will play against Boulazac Basket (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
