Regular Season Round 31: Le Mans - Boulazac 94-69
Date: April 28, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Boulazac Basket (9-21) was outscored on the road by second ranked Le Mans (21-10) 94-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 25 points. Le Mans dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Boulazac Basket's 32. They outrebounded Boulazac Basket 33-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Le Mans looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee) who led the winners and scored 20 points. The former international guard Antoine Eito (186-88) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four Le Mans players scored in double figures. American guard Karvel Anderson (188-91, college: Robert Morris) came up with 17 points and the other American import swingman Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Boulazac Basket in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Le Mans. They maintain second place with 21-10 record having just three points less than leader Monaco, which they share with Strasbourg. Newly promoted Boulazac Basket keeps the seventeenth position with 21 games lost. Le Mans will meet Le Portel (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Boulazac Basket will play against Hyeres-Toulon (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
