Regular Season Round 35: Toyama Grouses - SeaHorses 95-92

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (46-11) on the court of fifth ranked Toyama Grouses on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Toyama Grouses 95-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. Toyama Grouses dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 42. Strangely Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Toyama Grouses 41-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. International forward Naoki Uto (188-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 assists. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) answered with 26 points and American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) added 15 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses (23-34) moved-up to third place, which they share with San-en and Osaka Evessa. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with 11 games lost. Toyama Grouses is looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aishin Sea Horses will play against the league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
