An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Panevezys. Second ranked Zalgiris faced 4th placed Lietkabelis. Guests from Kaunas (29-4) defeated host Lietkabelis (20-16) 81-74. Lietkabelis was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Zalgiris had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Lietkabelis was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 14 points and 9 assists for the winners. The former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) answered with 19 points and the former international Simas Jasaitis (202-82) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Lietkabelis. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 29-4 record behind leader Lietuvos rytas. Lietkabelis lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 16 games lost. Zalgiris will play against bottom-ranked Vytautas (#10) in Prienai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lietkabelis will have a break next round.
