Regular Season Round 13: Corinthians - Sao Jose 72-69

The most exciting game of round 13 in the Liga Ouro took place in Sao Paulo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Sao Jose (12-4) to first ranked Corinthians (13-2) 72-69 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sao Jose. Corinthians forced 21 Sao Jose turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Sao Jose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Guilherme Schneider (193-86) chipped in 17 points. Five Corinthians players scored in double figures. Douglas Nunes (208-87) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Alexandre Pinheiro (185-85) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Corinthians have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Sao Jose at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Corinthians are looking forward to face Londrina (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sao Jose will have a break next round.
