Regular Season Round 25: Promitheas - Lavrio 98-87

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Lavrio (14-11) lost to third ranked Promitheas (17-8) in Patras 87-98. The game was mostly controlled by Promitheas. Lavrio was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Promitheas shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Lavrio was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International point guard Nikolaos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 assists for the winners and American swingman Casey Prather (197-91, college: Florida) chipped in 22 points and 5 steals. At the losing side American forward Tony Meier (204-90, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard McKenzie Moore (198-92, college: UTEP) scored 14 points and 9 assists. Five Promitheas and four Lavrio players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Promitheas. They maintain third place with 17-8 record having eight points less than leader Panathinaikos. Lavrio at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with AEK and Kymis. Promitheas will play against league's second-placed Olympiacos in Pireus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lavrio will play at home against the league's leader Panathinaikos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
