Important game to mention about took place in Ashdod. Sixth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (17-13) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Maccabi Ashdod (19-11) 72-71 on Thursday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Ashdod won fourth quarter 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Tel-Aviv made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. International Rafi Menco (200-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Jerel McNeal (190-87, college: Marquette) chipped in 11 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international forward Nimrod Levi (208-95) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Brad Greenberg rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fifth place. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. They share it with Hapoel J-M. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Galil Gilboa (#6) in Rosh Pina in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Hapoel Eilat and hopes to get back on the winning track.
