Zalgiris thumped Nevezis to open win count. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 24. They outrebounded Nevezis 31-15 including a 24-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Nevezis' players. The former international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (208-84, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 9 points and 10 assists. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American point guard Lester Medford (178-93, college: Baylor, agency: 3Eye) responded with 19 points and 4 assists and the other American import guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) scored 15 points.
