Regular Season Round 10: Norths Bears - Hornsby S. 89-86

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Spiders (3-7) were edged by fourth ranked Norths Soul Sports Bears (6-2) in Crows Nest 89-86 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Norths Soul Sports Bears forced 21 Spiders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Spiders were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Estonian swingman Erik Dorbek (196-82) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Linden Smith-Hyde (188, college: Nicholls St.) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Darcy Emery replied with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and center Benjamin Fakira (207) added 15 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Spiders. Five Spiders players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Norths Soul Sports Bears maintains fourth position in League with 6-2 record. Loser Spiders keep the eighth place with seven games lost. Norths Soul Sports Bears will face Maitland Mustangs (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Spiders will play against Sutherland Sharks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
