Regular Season Round 33: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Boulazac 101-77
Date: May 12, 2018
Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (18-15) outleveled at home 17th ranked Boulazac Basket (11-22) 101-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Boulazac Basket managed to win second period 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Boulazac Basket 43-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pau-Lacq-Orthez looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (208-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Chris Dowe (191-91, college: Bellarmine) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Pau-Lacq-Orthez players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) with 20 points and the other American import guard Trenton Meacham (190-85, college: Illinois) scored 9 points and 6 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pau-Lacq-Orthez maintains eighth place with 18-15 record. Newly promoted Boulazac Basket keeps the seventeenth position with 22 games lost. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will meet Chalons-Reims (#14) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Boulazac Basket will play against Chalon/Saor and hope to secure a win.
