Regular Season Round 32: Maccabi Ashdod - Ironi Nahariya 76-77

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Maccabi Ashdod (19-13) against tenth ranked Ironi Nahariya (12-20) on Thursday night. Host Maccabi Ashdod was edged by Ironi Nahariya in a tough game in Ashdod 76-77. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Ashdod won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Ironi Nahariya 39-27 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Iftach Ziv (191-95, agency: Avi Zilberman) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) who added 15 points during the contest. American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) responded with 22 points and 7 assists and American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Brad Greenberg rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ironi Nahariya moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliya. Maccabi Ashdod lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Hapoel T-A. Ironi Nahariya will meet at home higher ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and hope to secure a win.
