There was no surprise in Hamilton Hill where 9th ranked Cougars (4-9) were crushed by second ranked Flames (10-3) 92-51 on Friday. Flames held Cougars to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Flames had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard D'lesha Lloyd (179-86, college: Clemson) fired 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Maddison Allen (190-93, college: Santa Clara) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. Four Flames players scored in double figures. American forward Lauren Thompson (185-94, college: Belmont) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and forward Isabelle Miotti (178-98) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames maintains second place in League with 10-3 record having just three point less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Cougars keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Flames will have a break next round. Cougars will play at home against Wanneroo (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
