Regular Season Round 9: Alaska Aces - Hotshots 103-99

There was no surprise in Makati where 5th ranked Hotshots (3-4) were defeated by third ranked Alaska Aces (6-1) 103-99. Alaska Aces made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Hotshots were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Antonio Campbell (206-94, college: Ohio) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Vic Manuel (193-87) contributed with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. American power forward Justin Jackson (204-90, college: Cincinnati, agency: Inception Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American guard Justin Melton (180-87, college: Mount Olive) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hotshots. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Alaska Aces have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with TNT Ka Tropa. Hotshots lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Global Port. Alaska Aces will play against Meralco Bolts (#4) in Manila in the next round. Hotshots will play on the road against Ginebra Kings in Manila and hope to get back on the winning track.
