Regular Season Round 6: Sportiva Italiana - Libertad 50 117-64

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Valparaiso. First ranked Sportiva Italiana faced 4th ranked Libertad 50. Host Sportiva Italiana (4-1) smashed guests from (1-3) 117-64. Sportiva Italiana dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Libertad 50's 22. Sportiva Italiana forced 24 Libertad 50 turnovers and outrebounded them 43-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Ty Jones (-3) notched 43 points (!!!) and 5 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and Matias Lubiano (-99) supported him with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Sportiva Italiana's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 13 points and 9 rebounds by guard Francois Diaz (187-87) did not help to save the game for Libertad 50. Sebastian Faundes (-91) added 11 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Four Libertad 50 players scored in double figures. Sportiva Italiana maintains first position in Pro with 4-1 record. Libertad 50 at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Sportiva Italiana will have a break next round. Libertad 50 will play against Arabe de Valp. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
