Very important is a road loss of second ranked Alaska Aces (7-3) against seventh ranked Ginebra Kings (5-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Alaska Aces were crushed by Ginebra Kings in Manila 105-86. Ginebra Kings outrebounded Alaska Aces 61-46 including 19 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Alaska Aces were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Justin Brownlee (197-88, college: St.John's) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Scottie Thompson (188-93) accounted for 6 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ginebra Kings players scored in double figures. Forward Vic Manuel (193-87) came up with 20 points and Jake-Elvin Pascual (192-88) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Alaska Aces in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ginebra Kings. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Global Port. Alaska Aces at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. They share it with TNT Ka Tropa. Ginebra Kings will play against Global Port (#7) in Pasig in the next round. Alaska Aces will play at home against Phoenix (#9) and hope to get back on the winning track.
