Mexico rallied past El Salvador for the first victory in Group B. The hosts were paced by 14 points from Adriana Salinas. Mexico used a strong 31:12 game opening to set the tone. They followed with a 20:6 run in the third term to run away for good. Jessica Paz and Katia Gallegos added 13 points each for Mexico. Kim Villalobos answered with 18 points and 11 rebounds for El Salvador.
