Important game to mention about took place in Vilniaus. Top-ranked VKM (4-0) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Zalgiris I (2-2) 79-77 on Tuesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Zalgiris I was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of VKM, which allowed them to win the game. Zalgiris I was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Titas Pundinas (175-2005) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Point guard Emilis Kargertas (183-2005) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vytautas Zygas (196-2005) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and center Mantas Kocanas (207-2005) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Zalgiris I. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. VKM have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Zalgiris I at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Saule. VKM will play against Panevezio (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Zalgiris I's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kaunas Perkunas.
