Regular Season Round 3: Niksic - Celje 42-135

The game between Top Four teams took place in Niksic. Montenegrin host Niksic (1-2) was smashed by Slovenian Celje (2-0) 135-42. The game without a history. Celje led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Niksic's 30. Celje forced 44 Niksic turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. Celje looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Niksic's players. The best player for the winners was Australian Taylah Simmons (185-1997, college: Southeastern) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. Point guard Lea Bartelme (178-2005) chipped in 21 points, 6 assists and 5 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Celje players scored in double figures. Celje's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Teodora Saric (190-1998) who recorded 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Kosovan center Saranda Daci (190-1993) added 9 points respectively. Celje will meet at home Orlovi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niksic will play against Vojvodina 021 in Novi Sad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
