Regular Season Round 4: Kipina - Raiders Basket 100-93 OT
Date: October 29, 2022
Very expected game when bottom-ranked Raiders Basket (0-4) lost to fifth ranked Kipina (3-1) in Aanekoski 93-100 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Raiders Basket won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Raiders Basket used huge pressure winning it 24-22 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-15. The winners were led by American guard ArMond Davis (196-1995, college: UCSB) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Brian Cameron (188-1997, college: Wesley) supported him with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals (made all of his seven free throws). Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 24 points and 5 assists by forward Semi Saari (190-1998) did not help to save the game for Raiders Basket. Forward Otto Raisanen (188-2003) added 21 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kipina moved-up to third place, which they share with Bisons. Loser Raiders Basket still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Oulun Bball. Kipina will meet Bisons (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Raiders Basket will play against Kouvot Ak. (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
