Regular Season Round 6: Saule - Zalgiris 88-84

Everything could happen in Siauliai at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Saule and 8th ranked Zalgiris I had identical 4-2 record. This time Saule used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Kaunas 88-84 on Sunday night. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-84. Saule forced 22 Zalgiris I turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Deividas Zukauskas (162-2005) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Danas Zakarauskas (-2005) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Saule players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Vytautas Zygas (196-2005) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and guard Martynas Jakstys (190-2005) added 21 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Saule have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser Zalgiris I dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Saule will meet bottom-ranked Plunges (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris I will play against the league's leader VKKM (#1) and hope to secure a win.
