There was no surprise when 14th ranked Diba Ankara (1-7) was edged at home by twelfth ranked Manisa (3-5) 65-64 on Sunday. Manisa forced 22 Diba Ankara turnovers. Strangely Diba Ankara outrebounded Manisa 45-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international center Yasemin Gunes (189-1993) who scored 18 points and 4 steals. Dilek Topdemir (-1992) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Manisa players scored in double figures. Manisa's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. DR Congolese center Mireille Muganza (185-1990) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 28 rebounds and Beril Arik (-1994) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Manisa moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Urla. Diba Ankara lost seventh consecutive game. Diba Ankara at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Yalova Vip. Manisa will meet at home higher ranked Elazig Il (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Diba Ankara will play against Karsiyaka (#16) in Izmir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
