There was no surprise in Madrid where bottom-ranked SBA (0-6) was outplayed by seventh ranked Socuellamos (4-2) 90-67 on Saturday. Socuellamos made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Socuellamos outrebounded SBA 44-25 including a 33-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American guard Khion Sankey (196-1992, college: Lipscomb) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Socuellamos players scored in double figures. Socuellamos' coach Manuel Jimenez felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pablo Lopez (195-1997) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds and Montenegrin forward Bodin Saranovic (196-2004) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Socuellamos moved-up to second place, which they share with 8 other teams. Newly promoted SBA still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Boadilla. Socuellamos will meet at home league's second-placed Alcala in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SBA will play against Santa Cruz (#13) in La Palma and hopes to get finally their first victory.
