Regular Season Round 7: MuKi - Korinokia 94-99 OT

Everything could happen in Helsinki at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Korinokia and 11th ranked MuKi had identical 2-4 record. But MuKi was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Nokia 99-94 on Sunday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But MuKi won second period 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where MuKi used huge pressure winning it 23-20 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-12. Korinokia dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to MuKi's 42 and made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded MuKi 52-37 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Ryan Batte (198, college: Thomas More) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for the winners. Center Kalle Kuhalampi (199-2006) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Korinokia players scored in double figures. Guard Robin Avist (191-2000) produced 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Nikolas Kataja (194-2002) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Korinokia maintains tenth place with 3-4 record, which they share with Westside ET. MuKi lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Korinokia will meet higher ranked HyPo (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MuKi will play against PeU-Basket (#3) in Pernio and hope to secure a win.
