Regular Season Round 16: Kretinga - Stekas 72-85

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Kretinga (5-9) lost at home to eleventh ranked Stekas (6-9) 85-72 on Saturday. Stekas outrebounded Kretinga 46-29 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by point guard Paulius Semaska (184-1993) who scored that evening 23 points and 8 assists and forward Karolis Brusokas (202-1991) supported him with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Stekas' coach Tomas Purlys allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by center Rytis Zabita (199-1994) did not help to save the game for Kretinga. Raidas Nacius (197-1991) added 15 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stekas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Delikatesas. Kretinga lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Stekas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilnius to the arena Rytas 2.
