Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Verona (2-6) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Varese (6-2) 98-91 on Sunday. Varese made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Jaron Johnson (196-1992, college: Louisiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tomas Woldetensae (196-1998, college: Virginia) who added 19 points during the contest. Five Varese players scored in double figures. American Karvel Anderson (188-1991, college: RMU) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Alessandro Cappelletti (186-1995) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Varese have an impressive five-game winning streak.
