Regular Season Round 9: Anadolu Efes - Besiktas 101-67

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Anadolu Efes (#1) and Besiktas (#5). Anadolu Efes (9-0) crushed visiting Besiktas (4-5) by 34 points 101-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Besiktas. Anadolu Efes dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Besiktas' 40. Anadolu Efes forced 21 Besiktas turnovers and outrebounded them 48-27 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Besiktas' players. It was a good game for naturalized Serbian forward Tolga Kay (193-2004, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Karahan Efeoglu (203-2004) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Ege Borcali (-2005) answered with 21 points and Ahmet Ozbek (-2005) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Besiktas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anadolu Efes have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-0 record, which they share with Gaziantep. Besiktas at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Anadolu Efes' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Darussafaka.
