Regular Season Round 15: Mulhouse - Besancon 83-87

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Mulhouse (11-4) against tenth ranked Besancon (7-8) on Friday night. Host Mulhouse was defeated by Besancon in a tough game in Mulhouse 83-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mulhouse. Besancon dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Mulhouse's 16. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Guillaume Valayer (201-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Nigerian forward Anthony Elechi (203-1993, college: Morehead St.) helped adding 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Elechi is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was point guard Antoine Dudit (181-1997) with 19 points and 8 assists and Maltese-American forward Aaron Falzon (203-1996, college: Quinnipiac) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Besancon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Poitiers and Lyon. Loser Mulhouse keeps the second position with four games lost. Besancon will meet at home higher ranked Andrezieux (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mulhouse will play against Lyon and hope to secure a win.
