There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Mondeville (3-6) was edged on the road by eleventh ranked Calais (3-6) 63-61 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American forward Shakayla Thomas (180-1996, college: FSU) who scored 23 points and 7 steals. Forward Anais Viellote (188-1991) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American Shanavia Dowdell (188-1987, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Areus Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Louise Bussiere (180-2002) added 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals respectively. Calais moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Mondeville. Calais will meet higher ranked Montbrison (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mondeville will play against SIG (#7) and hope to secure a win.
