Very expected game in Athens where bottom-ranked Kavalas (0-11) was rolled over by sixth ranked Maroussi (7-4) 92-66 on Wednesday. Maroussi forced 21 Kavalas turnovers and outrebounded them 48-32 including 36 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Kavalas' players. It was a great evening for point guard Pavlos Xydas (185-1993) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Demetrious Marghellis (201-1998) helped adding 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Marios Poulianitis (190-1998) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Prodromos Tachyridis (201-2004) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maroussi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Kavalas still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Maroussi will meet Agriniou (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kavalas will play against Iraklis and hopes to get finally their first victory.
