Regular Season Round 12: H.Haifa - M.Tel-Aviv 59-80
Date: January 3, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Hapoel Haifa (5-6) was outplayed at home by first ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (10-2) 80-59 on Tuesday. Maccabi Tel-Aviv outrebounded Hapoel Haifa 44-23 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Yiftah Ziv (191-1995, agency: Avi Zilberman) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international power forward Roman Sorkin (208-1996, college: Oregon) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized American Will Rayman (203-1997, college: Colgate) with 12 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Kadeem Allen (187-1993, college: Arizona) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Tel-Aviv have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Loser Hapoel Haifa keeps the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Bnei Hertzeliya. Maccabi Tel-Aviv will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hapoel Haifa will play again against the league's leader Maccabi Tel-Aviv (#1) in Tel Aviv and hope to secure a win.
