Regular Season Round 15: Monferrato - Piacenza 70-85

Very expected game in Casale where 9th ranked Monferrato (5-9) was defeated by fifth ranked Piacenza (8-6) 85-70 on Wednesday. Strangely Monferrato outrebounded Piacenza 45-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Brady Skeens (202-1995, college: Washburn, agency: One Motive Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Federico Miaschi (200-2000) helped adding 20 points. Piacenza's coach Stefano Salieri used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-1989) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Aaron Carver (201-1996, college: ODU) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Five Piacenza and four Monferrato players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Piacenza. They maintain fifth place with 8-6 record. Monferrato lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Piacenza will meet at home higher ranked Torino (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Monferrato will play against Trapani (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
