Regular Season Round 11: Ionikos - Karditsas 78-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Ionikos' (3-8) home victory over bottom-ranked Karditsas (1-10) in Aigaleo 78-71 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-1984) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Davonte Lacy (191-1993, college: WSU) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Slovenian forward David Gabrovsek (204-1994, college: MBU) came up with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Sayeed Pridgett (196-1998, college: Montana) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Karditsas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ionikos moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Apollon P. Karditsas lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Ionikos will meet higher ranked Kolossos HH (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Karditsas will play against AEK (#7) and hope to win that game.
