Regular Season Round 11: Panathinaikos - Peristeri 72-71

The most exciting game of round 11 in the GBL took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Peristeri (7-4) to second ranked Panathinaikos (9-2) 72-71 in the game for the second place. Panathinaikos forced 20 Peristeri turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Peristeri helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Cameroonian guard Paris Lee (183-1995, college: Illinois St.) saved the victory by scoring 20 points. Lithuanian center Arturas Gudaitis (211-1993) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. French point guard Sylvain Francisco (185-1997, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 18 points and 5 steals and Serbian swingman Aleksa Radanov (201-1998, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Peristeri. Five Peristeri players scored in double figures. Peristeri's coach Vassilis Spanoulis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Panathinaikos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos. Peristeri at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with PAOK. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face Aris (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Peristeri will play on the road against PAOK in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
