Regular Season Round 16: Proteas - Eunikos 64-76

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Proteas (7-9) lost to ninth ranked Eunikos (5-11) in Voula 64-76 on Wednesday. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and forward Asiah Jones (190-1998, college: Jacksonville) supported her with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Eunikos' coach Giorgos Veltsistas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 27 points by guard Nicollette Gilday (175-1992, college: Santa Clara) did not help to save the game for Proteas. Power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Newly promoted Eunikos maintains ninth position with 5-11 record. Proteas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Niki Lefkadas. Eunikos will meet at home higher ranked PAOK (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Proteas will play against Niki Lefkadas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
