Regular Season Round 14: Besiktas - Bursaspor 86-85

The most exciting game of round 14 in the U19 League took place in Istanbul. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Bursaspor (8-6) to fourth ranked Besiktas (9-5) 86-85 on Monday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Besiktas forced 22 Bursaspor turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Bursaspor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Ahmet Ozbek (-2005) who scored 18 points and 7 assists. Point guard Eren Erdogan (186-2006) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Point guard Berk Akin (188-2005) produced 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Mehmet Atalan (198-2003) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Four Bursaspor players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Besiktas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Darussafaka and Galatasaray. Bursaspor lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Pinar Karsiyaka. Besiktas is looking forward to face Petkim Spor (#8) in Izmir in the next round where they are favorite. Bursaspor will play at home against Darussafaka (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
