Regular Season Round 21: Komarno - Handlova 98-77

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Handlova (5-16) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Komarno (10-10) 98-77 on Saturday. Komarno dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 32. They outrebounded Handlova 40-22 including a 32-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian forward Vuk Djordjevic (203-1999) stepped up and scored 28 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Serbian swingman Luka Gasic (195-1998) chipped in 20 points. The best for the losing side was Montenegrin Danilo Aranitovic (203-1998) with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Croatian guard Dean Popovic (193-1997) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Handlova's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Komarno. They moved-up to fourth place. Handlova lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Komarno will meet higher ranked Iskra Svit (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against Prievidza (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
