There was no surprise when 11th ranked Murcia (8-10) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Baskonia (14-4) 87-80. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Serbian Vanja Marinkovic (198-1997, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 25 points to lead the effort and Estonian center Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-1996, college: S.Carolina) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Even 20 points by American-Georgian guard Thaddus McFadden (188-1987, college: Fairmont St., agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Murcia. American James Anderson (198-1989, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Baskonia moved-up to third place, which they share with Tenerife. Murcia at the other side keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Bilbao. Baskonia will play against Zaragoza (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Murcia will play against Real Betis in Sevilla and hopes to get back on the winning track.
