Very expected game when 10th ranked E.Kiryat Ata (4-10) was defeated at home by second ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (12-3) 100-88 on Sunday. Maccabi Tel-Aviv shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Yiftah Ziv (191-1995, agency: Avi Zilberman) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Wade Baldwin IV (193-1996, college: Vanderbilt) helped adding 11 points and 8 assists. Maccabi Tel-Aviv's coach Oded Kattash used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (195-1993, college: Marist, agency: BeoBasket) with 29 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Amin Stevens (203-1990, college: FAMU, agency: BIG) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Tel-Aviv maintains second place with 12-3 record having just one point less than leader H.Tel-Aviv. E.Kiryat Ata lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Maccabi Tel-Aviv will meet at home Hapoel Beer Sheva (#5) in the next round. E.Kiryat Ata will play against Galil Elion (#7) in Kfar Blum and hope to secure a win.
